Job Description
Sher Ethiopia produces roses. The roses are grown in greenhouses that consist of a steel framework and a plastic cover. Approximately 12,500 employees grow, harvest, grade and pack roses at three farms. Between 2.5 and 4 million roses are processed and transported to the airport in Addis Ababa every day, from where the roses are flown by Ethiopian Airlines to Europe for further distribution. This makes us the largest rose grower in the world and the biggest rose supplier in Europe.
The organization has offices in Ethiopia in the areas of Zeway, Adami Tulu, Koka(Blen)
Position Summary
The General Manager will be an experienced HR professional with demonstrated expertise in managing large groups of employees. He / She will oversee HR systems, handling employee relations, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing budgets, assessing staffing needs, hiring employees, designing training programs, and developing compensation plans. The ideal candidate will maintain excellent relations with the employees and management team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Developing and implementing human resources policies.
- Identifying, evaluating and solving hiring challenges
- Compiling information about compensation and benefits packages based on market data
- Identifying staffing needs
- Recruiting top talent to executive positions
- Interviewing potential candidates and making recommendations
- Hiring staff and negotiating employment agreements
- Motivating and supporting current staff
- Mediating and suggesting solutions to employee disputes
- Designing and directing training programs.
Reporting to: CEO of Sher Ethiopia

Job Requirements
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related fields
- Excellent communication skills (Fluent in English, Amharic and Afaan Oromo)
- Experience in working with large team (Managing 150 + employees).
- Knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
- Budget management experience.
- Strong people skills.
