The national coordinator for human rights and advocacy will work as part of a team in the Together for Inclusion (TOFI) consortium, and in close collaboration with the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (NABP). TOFI is a multi-stakeholder effort working for equal rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities in six African countries, including Ethiopia. 

Activities required:

  • Compiling and analyzing disability laws and policies in Ethiopia
  • Identifying the gaps in the implementation of disability rights in general and of persons with visual impairment in particular
  • Conducting advocacy activities based on the identified gaps
  • Transforming Ethiopian National Association of the Blind’s (ENAB’s) activities towards the best advocacy of disability rights
  • Designing and prioritizing advocacy issues of disability rights
  • Collaboration with TOFI partners in Ethiopia (including active participating in Human Rights and Advocacy (HRA) Technical Working group)
  • Collaboration and communication with TOFI programme manager in NABP in the development and reporting on implementation of HRA programme in Ethiopia
  • Participating in activities targeting capacity building and organizational strengthening of ENAB
  • Organize trainings and awareness raising in communities, for activists and organizations on disability rights
  • Leading tasks in relation to the implementation mechanisms of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), such as: alternative (shadow) report and related initiatives
  • Support and participate in relevant networks
  • Representing ENAB in legal issues, including: before national and international courts and tribunals
  • Doing any other related activities.
 

Job Requirements

Required Educational Level and Qualification 
  • First Degree in law (LLB) or above 
  • Cumulative GPA 3.00 or above for Women or person with disability, 3.25 or above for Men 
  • For those who have work experience of 2 years or more, Cumulative GPA 2.8 or above for Women or persons with disability, 3.00 or above for Men
